Operator Log 003: The Bottleneck Doesn't Sit Still

I was deep in a build sprint on an agentic Fantasy Baseball GM, one of those sessions where the work actually moves, when I made the call to shift my development of this project onto Claude Code. The reason wasn't subtle. Code was getting me real, working progress in something like a tenth of the time, while the path I had been on, handing context back and forth with ChatGPT, kept looping me through confident, wrong dead ends I would burn turn after turn untangling. At some point you stop debating it. The faster tool is the faster tool, and I had things to build.

So with momentum finally on my side, I went to hop back into the Lifecycle Brief to pick up where I had left off, and that is where the speed ran straight into a wall I did not see coming. I went to log into Ghost, ready to sprint, and instead of my publication I got told the site no longer existed. That was the moment I found out my trial had lapsed. Somewhere between the end of May and mid-June I had missed the email, the window had closed, and the thing I was ready to build on was just gone. For a stretch there I genuinely thought I was starting over from scratch.

Credit where it is due. I emailed Ghost, and first thing Monday morning they reinstated the publication, fast and clean, no hoops. If this were a story about support, that is the happy ending.

But here is the part I keep coming back to. I had quietly assumed the weeks of silence meant the engine had been doing its job in the background, that I would log in and find a stack of weekly briefs drafted and waiting, needing nothing but my review to fill the gap. There was no stack. The engine had been running on schedule and dying at the final delivery step the whole time, with nowhere to put what it produced, while I sat picturing a backlog that was never being written. The silence I had read as progress was the engine failing where I could not see it.

Site restored, I got moving again. I was happy with where Wednesday landed, ran another sprint of enhancements, and got close to caught up. And then I hit the newest wall, the one rationing me as I write this. I am at ninety percent of my weekly usage on Claude, split across this, the Resume Signal Framework, and the Fantasy GM, my reset is Sunday at 11:59, so I am throttling my own tokens to make it to the line.

Which is the joke of the whole week, once I lay it out end to end. I switched tools to go faster, and the thing setting my pace now is a meter counting down to Sunday night.
